Hotels and Recreation Models

Aytoun Street

Manchester Trams. Aytoun Street at 1 : 500 scale. The model includes proposals for construction of a new hotel on the site of the 1930's labour exchange building which has stood derelict for many years. A new bridge across the canal will provide pedestrian access.  A satisfying model to build including as it does, the tramway, Rochdale Canal and some interesting City Centre buildings. I especially enjoyed making the tram which aids animation. Architects : Falconer, Chester Hall of Liverpool

Deva Hotel, Chester

Aerial view with Commonhall Street in the foreground and Bridge Street to the rear.

This proposed hotel, in the centre of Chester presented a sensitive planning issue. This 1 : 400 scale model demonstrated that the new development suited the environment. Context modelling of part of the City Centre included some of the "Rows" and a complex massing of the buildings to the rear. Architects : T.N.W.,Chester

By the Mediterranean Shore

A 1 : 400 scale model of a holiday resort designed by Najib Gedal Architects http://najibgedalarchitects.com  The new development on the coast at Benghazi in Libya, features 66 single or two storey cabins arranged around a central catering complex. The site includes swimming pools, games courts, children's playground and a mosque. Covered walkways and tree planting provide shelter from the sun.

The Deep End

Detail from a model of a swimming pool with changing rooms. The pool is filled with deep simulated water. Don't dive in! Scale 1 : 100. This is a promotional model for a construction company to a standard design.

A Peek Under The Roof

This is a sports hall that I built a couple of years ago and which has now travelled the length and breadth of the country to exhibitions and sales presentations; an invaluable marketing tool for the construction company.
